29 April 2012 | Media Whore Night!

So, our Media Glitterati had their version of the Oscars with the White House Correspondents Association Dinner at last night. All the top whores where there, including another kind of media whore, the useless Kardashians.

What's that line from "Star Wars"? Oh yeah, "You will never find a more wretched hive of scum and villainy."

Perhaps that's better used to described the upcoming Republican convention, but then again, it works so well, especially since many of these Beltway scribblers are whores the greatest degree. And now, like other specialized industries, they all gather under one roof to fête one another like it's some kind of high school prom. What an interesting gathering of self-satisfied fucks, all patting each other on the back, openly acknowledging their totally inappropriate armlock with politicians. Can you imagine Saint Murrow ever attending one of these things?

I suppose we're supposed to find this heartwarming because the president pokes fun at himself. Or, as in the case of last year, at Donald Trump. Of course, sometimes the alleged joke backfires, as when Stephen Colbert held the media whores' feet to the flame to the complete consternation of the entire room just a few years back. I consider that a highlight, really, because these hapless fucks deserve to be ridiculed. And by someone who pretends to be a professional pundit, no less.

Of course, I'm not surprised by the antics of our Media Glitterati. I have no idea what real purpose this meeting of lesser minds actually serves but to reinforce how wedded the media is to its access to power, and the cozy relationship between elected officials and opinion-writers. Even criticism of the event coming from other media outlets reads more like jealous bitching than anything else. But as spring is usually awards season, maybe we should just take it along the lines of the Emmys, the People's Choice and the Oscars.

Useless, self-congratulatory and utter fuckery.
