Just because I like some members of our Media Glitterati doesn't mean I can't call them out on bullshit. Take this line from Charles Blow of the New York Times:
"Times are tough. But most people are smart enough to know that these tough times were long in the making and will be long in the fixing."
No, Mr. Blow, people are *not* smart enough. I always love how media pundits love to invoke the alleged smartness of the average voter. Politicos do it as well, but when our Media Glitterati does it, it deserves special mention because these folks should know a little better.
If voters were so smart, why did so many of them turn over control of the House to Tea Bagger-endorsed morons who have accomplished absolutely nothing during their term? They managed to obstruct just about everything and even casually threatened to put the United States into default. These fucking jerks are the ones you want running the country? Right-wing types love to bitch that Obama is ruining the country, but apparently found no "disconnect" in voting for a class of freshman legislators who not only proved clueless about how politics works, but delighted in their recklessness with the phony tough-guy mentality these soft, middle-aged assholes like to project, but hasn't created one job.
So no, people are not smart at all. Try again.
