19 November 2024 | The Little Thing about Matt Gaetz

It’s a little difficult to understand all the noise about Matt Gaetz’s nomination to be Attorney General of the United States. How so? Well, the people making the noise voted for a convicted felon and adjudicated rapist to be president. How can they now tsk-tsk about Matt Gaetz with any seriousness?

As of right now, he’s never been charged with a crime. Lots of salacious gossip and claims, but has he stepped into a courtroom as a defendant to offer up a plea? No? Okay, well, how about this House Ethics Committee report that he and others want buried? Remember, he resigned from Congress as a way to make it disappear. Must mean he’s guilty, right? Except this report has no legal weight at all. It’s not an indictment. It is not going to be handed over to the local prosecutor and Gaetz gets the perp walk treatment. By itself, reports like this have no power or influence beyond the halls from within they were written.

Again: if you voted for a felon/rapist to be president, balking over Gaetz’s nomination because of morals or ethical concerns is a total joke and has zero significance. It’s like someone who was a member of the Manson Family saying they found Charlie charismatic and all, but really thought Squeaky Fromme was unstable and you didn’t care for that because you have standards.
