Aroint Thee, Feckless Liberal

We’re going to put this right in the lede: liberals do like not power and they do not like winning elections.

Is that too harsh? Does it hurt your feelings, snowflake? Are you ready to click away? If not, let us explain.

One thing that is striking when observing political liberals and their right-wing adversaries is that when it comes down to it, the latter will crawl over glass and vote. They’re extremely reliable, no matter what. Whatever lies they are told, whatever bullshit enemy is invoked, these people will believe it or force their way into believing it and vote accordingly. It is as predictable as the sun rising in the east or a GOPer preventing full release of the Epstein Files.

Now liberals, on the other hand, these folks are more inclined to provide a proverbial laundry list of reasons why they will not vote for Democratic candidate X, almost all of them rooted in the belief in their moral superiority. Didn’t accuse Israel of genocide? Deal breaker. Not treating trans kids as the top priority? No time for you. These feast-or-famine declarations are especially ironic, given that liberals mock right-wingers for their simplistic worldview, somehow thinking that they are immune to voting against their own self-interests or could ever be single-issue voters. For liberals, this is strictly a right-wing pathology.

Fundamentally, Democrats and Democratic supporters are uncomfortable with power. By itself, that’s not a bad thing: a skepticism of government power is necessary for a healthy republic. But in our observation, being squishy about power extends to not wanting to fight for it tooth and nail. More explicitly, if we say that liberals should want to win elections at all costs, there’s gonna be pushback about that. The rejoinder will sound like “we can’t be like Republicans.” How exactly is this “being like Republicans”? In a time of national emergency, collapsing democracy and an every day Constitutional crisis, winning at all costs should be the only motivating factor. Instead, we see constant bib-dribbling about “corporate Dems” or complaints about how Democrats are not “doing something” when they are in the political minority and have limited options. The complaints are moral objections in a time of increasing immorality that is destroying the institutions we all took for granted as being stable and immune to the corrupt assaults by immoral actors that make up the current administration.

We don’t know exactly why there were 6 million fewer voters in 2024, and whether or not even a slim majority of them would have voted for Kamala Harris for president. But 77 million people voted for a convicted criminal in that election, almost three million more than in 2020, and that was 13 million more than in 2016. People were decidedly not voting as if democracy was on the ballot at all. People were not voting to rectify the end of Roe v Wade that happened because a convicted criminal assured a right-wing majority on the Supreme Court. But just like with Hillary Clinton’s loss, liberals started blaming Kamala for being a bad candidate, or again, “corporate Dems” for not having a primary. It seemed like everybody was finding a reason to explain why they might not have voted as if to clear their conscience. Like we said, Republicans skipped over broken glass to vote (along with so-called independents) but we have a bad feeling that too many liberals decided that their shit didn’t stink and may have sat out a vote, which helped plunge us into an unraveling of our way of life.

The bottom line is this: liberals do not want to fight for power. They don’t want to have it. They like losing elections so they can say that they voted their conscience and any consequences are not their fault. Their alleged moral positions are a mile wide and an inch deep and that failure to win at all costs has contributed to an increasingly evil time in American history. And we’re not convinced that this is going to change, that political liberals will have a single purpose to win the upcoming midterms at all costs. Because like we said, having that as your motivation would be a moral blemish and we can’t have that.
