So, there is a new White House press secretary by the name of Kayleigh McEnany who gave her first press briefing on Friday and promised that she would never lie. She then proceeded to list a number of falsehoods while also throwing a pity party for Michael Flynn.

Now, I don’t expect anything *but* lies from any living person in this criminal, depraved administration, so I hardly blinked at her performance for an audience of one. Rather, my eye is on how the media responded and in typical fashion, they performed as they always have: obediently.

Do I think they will just not show up? They could, and would have every justification for doing so. But that means not having access and if there is one thing that the media in DC craves above all else, it’s access. If you have a White House press secretary who leads off with a promise not to lie (suggesting that her predecessors did with impunity), that’s not a good sign. Never is. But we don’t have a functional press corps because if any of them had the slightest bit of self-respect, most of them wouldn’t be there. As I noted back in 2017. the best practice was to use pool reporters. But no, our Media Glitterati need to feed this image of themselves as dogged truth seekers holding the powerful accountable, so they continue to line up and walk steadily towards the cliff.

Way to go, media fucks. Way to go.
